West Virginia Roads

Some Good West Virginia Roads by Gary Vermillion

US Rt.60 from Gauley bridge to Lewisberg has excellent sections of tight turns, changing elevations, and wide smooth pavement with passing lanes.

US Rt.219 heading north away from Lewisburg starts out as mild sweeping turns but eventually is very impressive with tight turns on steep terrain.  Sections between Marlinton and Mill Point are good.

RT. 39 between Rt. 219 and Rt. 20 run through the National Forest and by Cranberry Glades which is one of the most beautiful places in West Virginia. There are lots of natural attractions in this area but only a short section of twisty road.  Scenic Highway 150 leaves the Cranberry Glades Visitors Center and runs along the ridgeline at 4000 feet (45 MPH and they mean it) comes back to Rt.219  is well worth the time it takes to traverse.
